Windows Embedded POSReady (formerly WEPOS) is an operating system optimized for point-of-service (POS) devices. With built-in networking capabilities and standards-based plug and play support, POSReady makes it easy to connect POS solutions with peripherals, servers and services.

Windows Embedded POSReady is an installable operating system and is optimized with only the features and components required for full-function POS devices in retail and hospitality organizations. Similar to Windows XP, POSReady 2009 has unique features that differentiate it from other Microsoft Windows Embedded operating systems.

• A semi-stateless system using File Based Write Filter (FBWF)
